23T

This photo project started from 2017, until 2020. I took these photos during my regular visits to Jakarta. This project captures all the scenery, atmosphere, changes, anxiety, discomfort, which I took from a balcony on the 23T floor at an apartment located in South Jakarta. The irony and contradiction about a life space called Jakarta, I expressed through photo frames. There are not many objects that I can shoot from the small balcony, but that limitation is the main idea of this photography project.

The atmosphere that I felt from the 23T balcony, that was a vast space before me, but at the same time it shackled. I can felt the crowd but quiet and isolated. This city offers both happiness and horror in the same time. Everything keeps moving from time to time, never stopping all day, but not so clear signs of life that I can catch. I came as a stranger and remained a stranger at this place. And when time passes, the city continues to rise, never ending building and farther away from the earth. Concrete, asphalt, glass, iron, all confined human life on the pretext of providing facilities for comfort. Suddenly I missed the earth with all its comforts.
